Summer is for faded blue jeans,
now a soft and pale cornsilk blue,
with a tear at the knee that gives
a tantalizing glimpse of skin.
And if you look closely, you might find
the remnants of a hand-drawn heart
scribbled with a blue ballpoint pen.
And if you dig deeper into the pockets,
you might find a leftover apology
worn thin with the pressures and
creases of a moving body.
